Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that does not involve radiation. An ultrasound machine emits and receives high-frequency ultrasound waves through a transducer or probe. The ultrasound waves are altered and return to the probe as “echoes”. The machine converts these echoes to an image that is displayed on the monitor, giving a 2-dimensional representation of the tissues under examination. Our skilled doctors can then interpret the images to obtain information that would otherwise be inaccessible.
Ultrasound examination permits a detailed view of many of the body’s organs and aids your veterinarian diagnosis of various diseases and monitoring in the following areas:
- Heart
- Kidney
- Liver
- Abdominal organs
- Pregnancy
- Cysts and tumors
